How we test accuracy.
Findy is new, so we do not quote an accuracy percentage yet. We will publish one when we have enough real results for the number to mean something. Until then, this is what we test.
Tested eight times a day
The live service runs a fixed set of cases with known answers, skipping any stored results, and every run is graded.
| Case | The right answer |
|---|---|
| Real address on Google, company and personal | Exists |
| Made-up Gmail address | Does not exist |
| Made-up address at a company on Google | Never reported as existing |
| Real and made-up addresses on Microsoft | Exists, does not exist |
| Real and made-up addresses on a company’s own mail server | Exists, does not exist |
| A domain that does not exist | Does not exist |
| Finding a real person | The right address |
| Finding a made-up person | Nothing |
The mistake we work hardest to avoid
Reporting an address that does not exist is worse than saying we do not know. It costs you a credit and a bounce. So when a provider’s answer is unclear, Findy reports no result and uses no credit.
What we cannot tell you
A mailbox can exist and still go unread. Some addresses that receive mail, such as shared inboxes and redirects, cannot be confirmed at all on some providers, so a missing result does not always mean the address is wrong.
